Who we are

About Us

Join us in breaking the cycle of poverty and crime — one child at a time.

Children of Prisoners Uganda LTD is a registered Ugandan charity (formed 1 January 2012, duly incorporated under the Companies Act 2012 on 24 August 2018). Our operational office is along Masaka Road, Nkokonjeru Zone B, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District.

Our Story Our journey began with a personal promise. Founder Jimmy Kasule, while imprisoned in 2011, heard countless stories of children suffering because their parents were behind bars. He vowed to God that if he returned home, he would help these forgotten children. That promise became Children of Prisoners Uganda.

With the support of his wife Moreen Nakawuba and early partners (including Mona from Children of Prisoners Sweden and Omega Missions Choir), we officially launched programmes in 2017 and have been growing ever since. Today we serve children whose parents are serving long sentences, mainly at Luzira Prisons.

Our Vision A Uganda where no child is punished for their parent’s mistakes — every child of a prisoner has access to education, love, and a chance to succeed.

Our Mission To provide holistic support that restores hope, dignity, and opportunity to children of incarcerated parents and their guardians.

Our Values

  • Compassion without judgment
  • Transparency and accountability
  • Community empowerment
  • Long-term impact over short-term aid
