Children separated from their parents due to incarceration often experience deep feelings of abandonment and trauma. To address this, Children of Prisoners Uganda organises regular, supervised family visits to Luzira Prisons.
In the first quarter of 2026, our team coordinated several prison visits that allowed children and their guardians to reconnect with their loved ones serving long sentences. These visits provide comfort, reduce stigma, and help children understand that they are not forgotten.
Alongside the visits, we offer psycho-social counselling sessions for both children and guardians. Our counsellors help them process emotions, build resilience, and cope with societal judgment.
One mother shared: “After the visit, my child stopped having nightmares and is now more focused in school. Thank you for not letting us feel alone.”

These activities are part of our holistic approach that combines emotional support with practical help such as basic necessities and education sponsorship.
We thank all partners and donors who make these visits possible. If you would like to sponsor a family visit or volunteer during the next round, please reach out to us on +256 774 739 500.
